Four Elements
On January 18, 2010 the new Chapel of the 4 elements of San Paolo d’Argon near Bergamo was inaugurated. Four. A number, nothing else. One like many, one of many; and yet unique: like each number, like each of us. And yet … there are four seasons, cardinal points, moon phases, winds, ages of life, evangelists, and many more … And, above all, there are four elements, those that give texture and form to what we call life: Earth, Water, Air, Fire. This is the number which we want to focus our attention on next week’s oratory. Why? Well, taking the time to study the new oratory more closely, one can see that it has four perfectly equal sides that form a square: a geometric shape which has always led to the search for terrestrial perfection (perhaps impossible to achieve, but something to strive for …..always). And this square shape is the motif of the new chapel opened during the evening presentation chaired by Don Omar Valsecchi, the oratory curator, attended also by the parish priest, Don Angelo Pezzoli, the director of the Diocesan Museum of Bergamo Don Giuliano Zanchi and the biblical assistant Don Lorenzo Flori. A space of spirituality dedicated to the four elements. A place that will try to condense the diversity of the multiple in the uniqueness of being.
