SEA URCHIN
Like a thorny but intriguing sea urchin, this extraordinary urban sculpture “Sea Urchin”, a work by the architect Giancarlo Zema, is made using 150 steel tubing and relative plastic fittings. A new and artistic way to transform anonymous work-site elements into a colourful structural cane thicket. A work created as a symbol of a new reconstruction of the city focused on renovation and eco-sustainability. The project promoted by the Fondazione Promozione Acciai of Milan and MADE EXPO is the brainchild of designer Giancarlo Zema developed with North Zinc and other major companies in the construction sector. We have chosen to participate in the Made Expo project in a different manner, with a work that represents steel and its flexibility, and with its excellent environmental sustainability, allows us to build highly efficient buildings. The metal structure of the “Sea Urchin” is treated with SISTEMA TRIPLEX® the innovative corrosion protection/aesthetic system developed by Nord Zinc. “Sea Urchin” will be installed at the Made Expo in Milan Rho at the “Forum of Construction Techniques” Hall 10 from October 5-8th, 2011.
