Mecca
SISTEMA TRIPLEX® arrives in Saudi Arabia within the stratospheric project of expanding the entire area of the millennial Al-Haram Mosque. A project that will keep Nord Zinc busy for about a year and a half, involving the realisation of the anti-corrosion system for the metal structures used for the construction of three imposing buildings to house the facilities in the northern area of the mosque. When the construction site is completed, the first building will have a total surface of 7,200 square meters with a height of 117 meters, the second 10 thousand square meters with a height of 128 meters, and the third will have a surface area of 5,500 square meters and a height of 116 meters. Impressive figures, but not as impressive as the investments implemented to expand and redevelop the entire area of the mosque: it is estimated that the total budget approved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the end of 2011 for this colossal project is equal to 80 billion riyals (over 20 billion dollars). The work schedule is divided into three phases: the construction of a majestic central building, the development of new courts and access roads around the mosque, including pedestrian walkways, tunnels and rest rooms, the implementation of services and infrastructures in the area to supply air conditioning, constant electricity and drinking water for all the pilgrims, in addition to high safety standards.
