APE TAU – COPPITO (AQ)
The Ape Tau project is now a reality.
With the contribution of several private entities, trade associations and Mantova and Lombardy regional authorities, a nursery has been built in Coppito in the municipality of L’Aquila.
Designed specifically to do something fast and useful for the territory of L’Aquila after being hit by the earthquake, promoted by ANCE from Mantova and the Fondazione Comunità Mantovana Onlus, the project has gathered private individuals, associations and other entities in the realisation of the project of Marco Imperadori, Associate Professor at the Milano Polytechnic – BEST department.
Imperadori designed Ape Tau together with the Atelier 2 studio, where the symbolic form of the building recalls a Bee, its ability to live in a community and organise itself, and the TAU of San Francesco, a symbol of peace, of rebirth and union.
The structure is totally dry, very light with tarpaulin bearing and secondary elements in wood or galvanised steel, with the inner shell and facades totally dry layered and hyper-insulated. The structural features and shapes of Ape Tau make the building a safe place in the event of an earthquake.
The reason why L’Aquila authorities have authorised Ape Tau to accommodate younger children. The name Ape Tau has a double meaning: the term “Bee” takes its cue from a hive, or nest, a place of protection ideal for children with the bee symbolising the ability to organise itself and live in the community. Nord Zinc has supported the Ape Tau project offering its protection treatments to guarantee maximum quality of the structure: SISTEMA TRIPLEX® protects the structure of the shelter and the shells that characterise the roof, while SIGILLO VERDE® galvanising protects all the structural parts of the buildings.
